Year Advisor Message
Hi Girls,
Welcome back to term 2 of Year 8. I hope you had a good break and are enthusiastic to resume your studies. Hopefully you will find this term productive and enjoyable.
This term in PRIDE we will be focusing on mental wellness. Looking after your mental health is as important as looking after your physical health and there are a number of things we can do to ensure we are mentally well. We will be looking at strategies to help us build our confidence and resilience so that we can face challenges such as friendship issues, family conflicts, exams and assignment stress head on. Remember just because something seems difficult doesn't mean we should avoid it or give up, sometimes it just means looking for a new way to approach or deal with it. As your Year Advisor I want to see you grow into confident, independent and resilient women who don't shy away in the face of challenges but strive to challenge themselves so they may achieve their best.
Remember an important part of maintaining your mental fitness is surrounding yourself with people who support you. This is called your support network and they are the ones who will help you in the tough times and encourage you to do your best. This term, I encourage all of you to try and be better friends and peers by demonstrating kindness and respect. Too often I have had to deal with students who are nasty and horrible to one other. Girls, you get what you put out, so if you want to go to school in a happy and supportive environment then start spreading the love. As a year group we can do a lot to improve the mental well being of others around us and in doing so we also enhance our own mental wellness.
Wishing you all a great term,
Ms Harris xoxo
